Bye Bye Monophasic Sleep

That’s it. After this morning’s late wake up I won’t be sleeping for more than twenty minutes at a time for a while. I expect to become extremely tired and fatigued during the adaptation period which should last a maximum of two weeks. I assume the first two to three days won’t be too bad since it’s just like staying up a night or two. Unless… I actually do fall asleep for those twenty minutes in the beginning. It sucks not getting enough sleep; I’d rather just not sleep in those cases.

I’m going to begin the naps tonight after a full day awake. Once I start to feel tired I’ll take the next nap on the schedule and I’ll keep on it from there. Next post should be after my first nap unless something worthy occurs.

… and it begins.

One or two days remaining.

The construction work seems to be coming to its proper end. The first night I begin will either be Monday or Tuesday night. Due to my schedule, I will not be able to incorporate the naps after a full night’s rest. I don’t know if this will make it any more difficult. I figure that I would just be laying there waiting for twenty minutes anyway. Although, it’s possible that laying down like that actually helps my body start to adapt to the twenty minute naps.

From what I know, the adaptation process is pretty difficult. Fortunately, I will not give in. My friend let me borrow his Wii for at least a week; I think I’ll take some time to connect a bit to my roots of console gaming. I’ll try to play through at least Mario Galaxy. I’m sure the game is not difficult, but it should keep me up and maybe it will give me a deeper insight to how the adaptation process is affecting me.

At this point, I (more…)

Still Counting Down to..

I’m pretty sure I should be counting into the positive days during this weekend. My schedule should be completely ready and the adventure will begin. The more I think about it the more that it seems that monophasic sleep is a primitive method. Something that was developed to collaborate with the sun. If you’re on the uberman and you don’t feel tired, what’s to tell you that you need more sleep? It seems like your body is getting what it requires to function. Perhaps the human mind/body’s ability to handle polyphasic sleep is a futuristic function. When we venture off this planet we won’t be  tied to mother Earth’s spin cycle. What are the signals to sleep going to be?

This is a pretty cool, yet incomplete, site. It has a well planned out daily schedule for anyone who is willing to get on the uberman or wants to get an idea of when hygiene/meals would come into play.

Come to think of it, I should (more…)

Another Minus Night

I was considering perhaps testing a different sleeping method, something like 30×4. [Thirty minute naps four times a day]. It seems like that method would be a lot more agile. Although I haven’t looked into that one, it seems like I would be stretching it. What would be stopping someone from doing 120×1? I feel that it wouldn’t work. .0001 x 1,200,000 would be nice, sleeping for a blink every so often. I assume that would be the ultimate sleep schedule. Unfortunately, I am not aiming for that one. Maybe next time.

This is the first website that I’ve ever looked at about the Uberman sleep schedule. I don’t even remember what tipped me off to it.

I can’t wait till my schedule clears.

Day Negative Something…

The aim of this blog is to log my personal experiences in my adventure to convert from a monophasic sleep schedule to a polyphasic one, more specifically the uberman. My sleep schedule will consist of six twenty minute naps throughout the day, nothing more.

I haven’t made any lifestyle changes that may raise my success rate for this project. I don’t think that should make it anymore difficult for me to adjust. At this point, I believe it’s more a ‘power of the mind’ thing to just stay on track and keep with the sleeping schedule. Who knows, maybe I’ll realize that I’m completely wrong when I actually make my attempt.

The plan is to commence conversion as soon as my schedule completely clears, which should be within a few days. The only thing I’m really worried about is keeping completely busy/active during the first days. Hopefully a little boredom won’t put me to sleep. Maybe I should prepare some activities outside of this blog.
