Failure is unacceptable: The new method. + Help?
Failure is unacceptable: The new method.
[1.1]For record keeping purposes, I am counting today [7/5/08] day one. Twelve AM was nap 1. Thus [1.1].
I am going to use a new method to prevent oversleeping for any reason whatsoever. The old method wasn’t good enough. My beeping alarm sucks because it only rings for like a minute and then it turns off, WHAT? Also the beeping is all low. Anyway, I’m still going to be using that alarm clock as my first wave of offense against the evil plague that is sleep. But, two minutes after that alarm goes off, I have set Foobar with the foo_scheduler plugin to play an mp3 on my speakers. I have set the volume pretty high to ensure that I get up. I expect it to go on quite well.
If anyone wants to try to get on the uberman. Don’t underestimate sleep. Do what you need to do to wake up and stay up. Even if that requires someone slapping your face or pouring water on you, it all comes down to dedication.
I was also wondering if skipping a nap or two would speed the process up. Would it make you more tired and force your body to adapt to the new sleep schedule faster? Or would it be extremely detrimental to the process which is supposed to be paced how it is. I don’t think it would really matter if you skipped a nap at day one.

Also, if anyone has any ideas on activities or anything entertaining to keep me up for hours on end. Let me know, whether it’s through comments or email - awake [at] gmail [dot] com - doesn’t matter. Anything at all would be nice. Even like a recipe or a book, anything.

WoW is too slow paced, you should play a RTS or a fast paced FPS like Q3, UT. Other alternatives are “http://media.www.arbiteronline.com/media/storage/paper890/news/2007/11/01/Biztech/Enter.The.Survival.Horror.Five.Terrifying.Games.To.Keep.You.Awake.At.Night-3070562.shtml”. Apart from video games you should buy some small ball and just play with it toss it arround the room or if you have a dog / pet play with it. Also try splashing your face with cold water as often as posible.

the thing with wow is that because it is rather slow paced the time goes by very quickly. i repeatedly canceled wow during my exam periods, because i want to take a break of 2 hours from studying and i end up playing 4 hours.
also if you dont already know it, try http://www.somethingpositive.net, a webcomic and read it from the beginning. at least a few hours of geek entertainment.
i can also recommend lost season 1, heroes season 1, all south park, family guy and simpsons seasons.
go jogging once a day for an hour, getting fresh air and firing up your metabolism will help you i would think.
